Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease is seldom painful and frequently begins without any obvious sign or symptom. The hygienist and the dentist monitor the health of your gums at every continuing care appointment to detect early beginnings and prevent periodontal (gum) disease.

With 80 to 90% of all teenagers having a form of gingivitis (inflamed gums) and 75% of adult tooth loss for people over the age of 35 due to periodontal disease, early treatment and prevention is essential. Periodontal disease is not only caused by plaque, calculus, and poor home care; but it is also caused by poorly fitting bridges and partial dentures, badly aligned teeth, defective fillings, and lack of regular professional prophylaxis. We work closely with you to prevent and treat periodontal disease and help you save your teeth.
