Orthodontics

All of our patients are referred to a graduate of a formal orthodontic program. The extra two years of intense training in this area is important in providing acceptable, successful, and safe treatment of orthodontic patients. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have an evaluation by 7 years of age and we do this initial evaluation and refer the patient when it is time for a more thorough evaluation by the orthodontist. For patients–both adults and children–who have crowded or crooked teeth, spaces between their teeth, or misaligned teeth and jaws, orthodontic treatment can help reduce the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and trauma.

Some teeth can be made to look straight with the use of crowns and porcelain veneers. This does not provide all of the benefits of orthodontic treatment of the teeth but will quickly provide the patient with an esthetic smile through the restorative correction of crooked, spaced, or misaligned teeth.
